TRADITION OF HOSPITALITY

At the beginning of the 20th century, the road between Punta Arenas and Puerto Natales was a difficult and long route, which in the harsh winters of Patagonia used to be blocked by intense snowfalls and wind storms. Rural hotels played an important role as refuge and rest.

In the Carpa Manzano sector, the hotel of the same name was one of the most valued.

Today, Hotel Carpa Manzano, located in the heart of the Croatian Quarter in the city of Punta Arenas, maintains that tradition of hospitality and service.

A direct descendant of these pioneers of the hotel industry in Patagonia, Juan Ursic Leal, along with his wife Isabel Olivos, decided in the eighties to continue with the tradition, and build, in the traditional Croatian neighborhood of Punta Arenas, an establishment that would rescue the memory of the first Hotel Carpa Manzano
